Hymn Text: Choosing a Path

Date: May 3rd, 2017
Title: Choosing a Path
Meter: 8 6 8 6 D
Topic: agency, the strait and narrow path, the iron rod

When we our destination choose
Then we also choose our path.
In one direction we will lose
All that the Father hath.

In one direction we will gain
Inheritance divine.
This straiter path helps us obtain
Despite its steep incline.

If we begin upon one trail
We must on it remain.
For to the end we must prevail
And faithful steps sustain.

Until our destination’s found
And we see our reward:
A place to grovel on the ground
Or flourish with our Lord.

All the strange roads of Lehi’s dream
Are simple to obtain.
The spacious building, filthy stream
We must from them refrain.

The rod of iron marks the way
That leads us to the tree.
If we will grasp and never stray
It leads us there safely.
