Hymn Text: How Blessed Are the Pure in Heart

Date: May 21st, 2017

Title: How Blessed Are the Pure in Heart

Meter: 8 6 8 6 D

Topic: beatitudes, purity, virtue

How blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God’s face.
And for eternity take part
Of glory in His place.

Their eyes are single to His will,
Their vessels filled with light.
The spirit’s fire each one can fill.
They have the clearest sight.

How blessed is the heart that’s pure,
For it can faith sustain.
Such hearts can faithfully endure
The coldest, bitter rain.

Such hearts are pliable and bend
At each word that God speaks.
When He His humble servants sends
Or grace in prayer He seeks.

Blessed are those with open hearts,
Who let the Savior in.
He’s written on their inmost parts,
And they abhor all sin.

Once He’s within, the Savior can
Our stony hearts replace
With one unlike the natural man
Reborn through saving grace.
