Hymn Text: Pride Comes and then the Fall

Date: July 3rd, 2017

Title: Pride Comes and then the Fall

Meter: 6 6 6 6 D

Topic: pride, humility

1.
Pride comes and then the fall
No matter what the height.
The pow’r of pride is small
Though it seems to have might.

Humility will rise,
Though deep it is below,
It shall ascend the skies,
As it then learns to grow.

2.
Pride comes and then the dark
As God withdraws His light.
The difference is stark,
In this deep, bitter night.

Humility will glow,
Though flickering at first,
Its progress may be slow,
But will not be disbursed.

3.
Pride comes and then the pit
Of emptiness ensues.
Pride’s sustenance will quit,
Its treasure is a ruse.

Humility will fill,
With food that long will last.
And happiness instill,
A treasure deep and vast.
