Hymn Text: I Thought I Knew

Date: July 15th, 2017
Title: I Thought I Knew
Meter: 6 6 6 6 D
Topic: God’s love, perspective

I thought I knew deep love
Until I felt God’s touch.
His love is far above
All others by as much

As the sun stars excels,
As the mountains dwarf hills,
As oceans exceed wells,
And vast horizons fill.

I thought I knew pure joy
Until I heard Gods word.
No words can I employ
To tell the joy I’ve heard.

As a feast fills the faint,
As a song stills sorrow,
As Gods touch heals a taint,
As sun greets the morrow.

I thought I knew true peace
Until I knew God’s plan.
Each day I now increase,
For I know that I can,

Regain what I have lost,
And see those who have gone,
Pay all the dreadful cost
Through Christ, that I live on.
