Hymn Text: In the Refiner’s Fire

Date: September 20th, 2017
Title: In the Refiner’s Fire
Meter: 10 10 10 10 8 8
Topic: trials, character, destiny

1.
Trials determine our character’s shape
Our trials shape what we’re destined to be.
No one on earth can these trials escape,
Nor from their influence can we be free.

In the refiner’s fire we stand,
Purified at the blacksmith’s hand.

2.
The heat burns away all impurity,
And the flames melt away all that is dross,
The strokes of the hammer bring surety
That the gain will recompense all the loss.

In the refiner’s fire we stand,
Purified at the blacksmith’s hand.

3.
The blacksmith is crafting a masterpiece,
Out of things that were humble before.
The flames and the hammer will never cease,
Until he has brought out what is in store.

In the refiner’s fire we stand,
Purified at the blacksmith’s hand.
