Hymn Text: Do We Trust the Lord Enough

Date: October 31st, 2017
Title: Do We Trust in the Lord Enough?
Meter: 8 6 8 6 D
Topic: trust, faith, endurance

1.
Do we trust in the Lord enough
To trust that He knows best?
To pay our tithing, though it’s tough,
To pass His every test?

To pray and wait upon his word,
And take it when it comes,
Then to accept the voice we’ve heard,
and trust in the outcome.

2.
Do we trust in the Lord to guide,
Through rugged, steep terrain.
To where He and the saints abide,
Beyond this mortal plain?

To take His hand and hold it fast,
As we step through the dark,
And keep it till the night is passed,
Whenever we embark.

3.
Do we trust in the Lord to shape
Our souls as they should be?
To bear rebuke and not escape,
As we’re wrought perfectly?

To let ourselves be molded new,
Enduring through the pain,
To trust He knows more than we do,
And will through grace sustain.

Hymn Text: Maintaining a Testimony

Date: October 28th, 2017
Title: Maintaining a Testimony
Meter: 8 8 8 8
Topic: conversion, endurance, progression

1.
A testimony must be gained,
Then every day must be maintained.
A witness that is never bourn,
Can falter when it meets the thorn.

2.
A testimony, though its bright,
Can never last throughout the night,
If oil is not kept in reserve,
The lamp once bright no more will serve.

3.
A testimony will not die,
If ev’ry day you faith supply,
And act upon what you believe,
Sustained by fruit you then receive.

Hymn Text: Grasp the Opportunity

Date: October 27th, 2017
Title: Grasp the Opportunity
Meter: 8 6 8 6 8 8
Topic: adversity, growth, progression

1.
Empathy through adversity,
Grows, watered by your tears.
Trials in their diversity,
Refine you through the years.

So, never say, “Why this for me?”
But grasp the opportunity.

2.
Perspective through the bitter pain,
All the while can flourish.
And all our tears like healing rain,
The seed of faith nourish.

So, never say, “Why this for me?”
But grasp the opportunity.

3.
Compassion through the sting of loss,
Can bloom amid the weeds.
As Christ who suffered on the cross,
Can succor all our needs.

So, never say, “Why this for me?”
But grasp the opportunity.

Hymn Text: Choose the Harder Right

Date: October 26th, 2017
Title: Choose the Harder Right
Meter: 6 6 6 6 D
Topic: agency, rewards, endurance

1.
Now choose the harder right,
And not the easier wrong
Look upward to the light,
Though oft the pull is strong.

To join the world in sin,
Along the easy way.
And to the crowd give in,
And in the darkness stay.

2.
Now choose the higher path,
And not the broadened road.
For one will lead to wrath,
The other, God’s abode.

You cannot travel both,
You can but once arrive:
To great, eternal growth,
Or that which will deprive.

3.
Now choose the holier life,
And not the life of ease.
If we endure all strife,
We will our Father please.

Those who choose leisure here,
Give up far greater gain.
Those who choose faith, not fear,
Eternal life obtain.

Hymn Text: Look Beyond

Date: October 25th, 2017
Title: Look Beyond
Meter: 7 6 7 6 D
Topic: guidance, vision, the Spirit

1.
Look beyond what you can see
Do not assume you know,
How things are, how they should be,
In the world here below.

For Satan will all deceive,
Who do not preserver,
Confirming what they believe,
Keeping the Spirit near.

2.
Look beyond the mists so dark,
That blind to what is real.
Do not look beyond the mark,
But ponder how you feel,

When hearing that still, small voice,
That leads you through the gloom.
And provides the higher choice
That leads away from doom.

3.
Look beyond the surface bright,
To what may lurk below.
For if you want to choose right,
The difference you must know,

Between the fraud that nears light,
And light, untainted, pure.
The diff’rence is day and night,
The importance is sure.

Date: October 24th, 2017
Title: Passing Through
Meter: 8 7 8 7 8 7
Topic: destiny, progression, heaven

1.
Earth is not our destination.
We are only passing through,
To a higher elevation,
To our home in heaven true.
Earth is not our destination
We are only passing through.

2.
Mortal life is not the treasure
We should grasp with trembling hands
Fleeting is it’s ev’ry pleasure
Limited are all its plans.
Mortal life is not the treasure
We should grasp with trembling hands.

3.
Heaven’s mansions sweetly beckon,
“Come and claim your rest at last.
Pain and sorrow no more reckon,
For the journey long has passed.”
Heaven’s mansions sweetly beckon,
“Come and claim your rest at last.”
