Hymn Text: We’re Not Hypocrites, We’re Human

Date: November 11th, 2017
Title: We’re Not Hypocrites, We’re Human
Meter: 7 6 7 6 D
Topic: improvement, perfection, progression

Sometimes we may feel that we,
Are hypocrites because,
We know the saint we can be,
Who goodness says and does.

But fall short of the ideal,
Because mortality,
Means human weakness is real,
Though we strive fervently.

We must not judge another,
Who does not live as we,
Because this sister, brother,
Also has frailty.

And must endure their own test,
Their thorn to overcome.
They are not yet their own best,
Nor are complete, in sum.

Though weakness will be present
It must not us define.
Though growth may be unpleasant,
It will our souls refine.

Despite all our weakness
We can succeed, improve.
We persevere in meekness,
Until weakness we remove.
