Title: The Sunset
Meter: 8 6 8 6 D
Topic: nature, providence, miracles
The sunset in the cloudless sky
Paints nature’s bright array.
And fields of flowers beautify,
Accompany the day.
The cosmic lights of night then dance
The heavens to adorn.
To give each mortal heart the chance,
For comfort till the morn.
The message of the dusk can warn,
Of the approaching gloom.
Before the day can be reborn,
Deep shades must take its room.
The wonders of the dawn bring hope,
For those who mourn the night.
For those who fear the dark can cope,
If they expect the light.
The mortal life of women, men,
Will pass as but a day.
Each sun will set and we will then,
See old things pass away.
The darkness of mortality,
Will then give way to light,
Enjoyed throughout eternity,
When all things are made right.
