Hymn Text: Bretheren, We Bear Aaron’s Priesthood

Title: Brethren, We Bear Aaron’s Priesthood
Meter: 8 6 8 6 D
Scripture: Doctrine and Covenants 13:1

1.
Brethren, we bear Aaron’s priesthood
Given us that we might serve.
Let us give our service freely.
Give the blessings all deserve.

Ministering with God’s angels.
Baptizing those who believe.
Preach the gospel of repentance
With a pow’r that will not leave.

2.
Brethren, we bear Aaron’s honor
Fellow servants are we all
We must be the first to follow
When we hear our Father’s call.

Ministering with God’s angels.
Baptizing those who believe.
Preach the gospel of repentance
With a pow’r that will not leave.

3.
Brethren, we bear Aaron’s duty
To minister where we’re sent.
To watch over each church member,
To provide the Sacrament.

Ministering with God’s angels.
Baptizing those who believe.
Preach the gospel of repentance
With a pow’r that will not leave.

Hymn Text: The Worth of Souls

Title: The Worth of Souls
Meter: 8 6 8 6
Scripture: Doctrine and Covenants 18:10-11

1.
The worth of souls is great to God
His every daughter, son.
Though He’s the Father of us all
He knows us every one.

2.
He knows the load we have to bear
He counts our every tear.
Both in our joy and in despair
Our Father’s always near.

3.
If you should labor all your days
To teach one soul his love
How great shall be your joy with him
In that bright world above.

4.
Brothers, sisters, then let us seek,
For those who wander here.
He’ll strengthen those who now are weak
And conquer every fear.

Hymn Text: Our Savior Suffered for All

Title: Our Savior Suffered For All
Meter: 11 8 11 8
Scripture: Doctrine and Covenants 19:16-19

1.
Our Savior, He suffered these things for us all
That we all must not suffer too.
Without his atonement we all then will fall
And then there is naught we can do.
2.
His suffering, it caused even He, our great Lord,
To tremble, to bleed, every pore.
The cost is much more than we all can afford
But through Him we must pay no more.
3.
We then must repent or the suffering will come
And smite us, though we be alone.
These pains both exquisite and so hard to bear
Are they for which He has atoned.
4.
The voice of our Savior is calling today
To gather beneath his bright wings.
His arm is extended, He heals every soul,
And gives them all new songs to sing.

5.
Behold the deep prints in His hands and His feet
And weep for these tokens of love.
So gladly He’ll gather you, like precious wheat
Into His bright presence above.

Hymn Text: The Hope of Christ

Title: The Hope of Christ
Meter: 8 6 8 6 D
Scripture: 2 Nephi 2:27

1.
Adam fell that all men might be
And that we might have joy
And though his fall brought death to us
It does not hope destroy.

As in Adam all men will die
By Christ they are redeemed
All through the days of all mankind
The hope of Christ does gleam.

2.
Adam fell that all men might be
That we may face the test.
And though we suffer want and pain
Through it we shall be blessed.

As in Adam all men will die
By Christ they are redeemed
All through the days of all mankind
The hope of Christ does gleam.

3.
Adam fell that all men might be
The first of our all race.
With mother Eve who saw the plan
To help us seek God’s face.

As in Adam all men will die
By Christ they are redeemed
All through the days of all mankind
The hope of Christ does gleam.

4.
Adam fell that all men might be
But there did not remain
Though he transgressed he rose again
Redemption to obtain.

As in Adam all men will die
By Christ they are redeemed
All through the days of all mankind
The hope of Christ does gleam.

Hymn Text: Prayer is the Shield

Title: Prayer is the Shield
Meter: 10 10 10 10
Scripture: Doctrine and Covenants 10:5

1.
Prayer is the shield that shelters us forever
Against the power of every deadly foe
If we but lift our prayers to God we’ll never
Be overcome by fearsome winds that blow.

2.
Prayer is our sword to fight against temptation.
Provides the means to fight the valiant fight.
Should Satan rage and all his servants with him.
We shall prevail as conquerors through the night.

3.
Prayer is the balm, we must apply it daily.
To heal the wounds inflicted deep by sin.
The battle may be long and ye are weary.
But at the last you shall as victors win.

Hymn Text: God’s Grace is Sufficient

Title: God’s Grace is Sufficient
Meter: 10 8 10 8 8 6 8 6
Scripture: Ether 12:27

1.
God’s grace is sufficient for those who lack
For those who seek humbly His face.
His giving weakness is not an attack—
A chance to rely on His grace.

O grace that makes our weakness strong,
We seek it all our days
So humbly we future face
Refined in holy ways

2.
His grace is sufficient for all who seek
To purge themselves of sin and wrong
Through grace we view the place where we are weak
Through God’s grace we are then made strong.

O grace that makes our weakness strong,
We seek it all our days
So humbly we future face
Refined in holy ways

3.
His grace is sufficient for all who turn
From the rough, darkened paths of sin.
Cleansed by the Holy Spirit then they learn
The greater peace that comes within.

O grace that makes our weakness strong,
We seek it all our days
So humbly we future face
Refined in holy ways

Hymn Text: Pains, Temptations of Every Kind

Title: Pains, Temptations of Every Kind
Meter: 8 7 8 7 D
Scripture: Alma 7:11-13

1.
Pains, temptations of every kind
Were our Savior’s load to bear.
The bitterest dregs of mankind’s cup
He drained and became aware.

Of all that had suffered till then.
And would suffer through all time.
Pressing from Him His precious blood
As oil is pressed from the vine.

2.
Sins and infirmities as well
Weighed down upon his dear back.
Providing us sufficient grace
For all the times that we lack.

This caused even Him to tremble
To cry for heaven’s relief.
An angel came then to comfort
The depths of His solemn grief.

3.
Though deep as death he descended
His descent was not in vain.
He took on the greatest darkness
But He did not there remain.

Now His heart swells with compassion
For all those who suffer here.
He knows just how to succor them
For He paid the price most dear.
