Hymn Text: A Shepherd and a Lamb

Week of March 25th, 2018
Title: A Shepherd and a Lamb
Meter: 7 7 7 7 8 6 8 6
Topic: Easter

1.
Though our Savior was holy,
The King of Kings, Great I AM,
Became a child so lowly,
First a shepherd, then a lamb.

He traveled in this mortal flock,
To understand His sheep.
Though He was ridiculed and mocked,
His silence He did keep.

2.
Through He was begotten first,
And should have but reigned above,
He sated sin’s awful thirst,
By relinquishing with love,

His spotless coat, now dyed in blood,
A lamb now sacrificed.
For, from Him flowed a crimson flood,
That wholly would suffice.

3.
Once He has risen from death,
Then He rose again to be.
The giver of life and breath,
And the lamb who can set free.

The Shepherd did not then remain
A lowly lamb below.
For once He’d purged us of our stain,
His crown did God bestow.

Hymn Text: How Deep, How Vast!

Week of March 18th, 2018
Title: How Deep, How Vast!
Meter: 11 8 11 8 D
Topic: Easter

1.
How deep is the pit the Atonement must fill!
The sum of our sin and our grief.
How strong is the pain the Atonement must still!
It baffles our mortal belief.

For only a balm of an infinite breadth,
Could ever for mankind suffice.
For the awful expanse of sin, and its depth,
Are covered by Christ’s sacrifice.

2.
How vast are the seas the Atonement must calm,
The waves roar both often and high.
How bitter the sting the Atonement must balm,
It offers an endless supply.

For only a balm of an infinite breadth,
Could ever for mankind suffice.
For the awful expanse of sin, and its depth,
Are covered by Christ’s sacrifice.

3.
How frigid the chill the Atonement must chase,
For those for whom love has gone cold.
How crimson the stain that its might must erase,
It cleanses with power untold.

For only a balm of an infinite breadth,
Could ever for mankind suffice.
For the awful expanse of sin, and its depth,
Are covered by Christ’s sacrifice.

Hymn Text: The Sting of Death

Week of March 4th, 2018
Title: The Sting of Death
Meter: 7 6 7 6 D
Topic: Easter

1.
The sting of death is parting,
The sting of death is pain.
The sting of death is tears,
That fall like bitter rain.

The peace of Christ is greeting
The peace of Christ, relief,
The peace of Christ is eating
The fruit of our belief.

2.
The sting of death is losing,
The sting of death is grief.
The sting of death is choosing,
To bow before a thief.

The peace of Christ is gaining,
The peace of Christ is joy,
The peace of Christ, obtaining,
What time cannot destroy.

3.
The sting of death is breaking,
The sting of death is lack.
The sting of death, forsaking,
That which you can’t take back.

The peace of Christ is bringing,
The peace of Christ is full,
The peace of Christ is singing,
The song that will console.

Hymn Text: Through Baptism

Week of February 25th, 2018
Title: Through Baptism
Meter: 8 8 8 8
Topic: Baptism

1.
Through baptism I take the key
That leads toward eternity
I enter through the narrow gate
And find the path, both sure and strait.

2.
Through baptism, I find the way
That I must travel, every day,
My eyes toward perfection set,
I strive each day, lest I forget.

3.
Through baptism, I leave behind,
The burdens that have made me blind.
I bury in the water’s grave,
My former self, so Christ can save.

4.
Through baptism, I am renewed
I take a holy attitude,
I put the natural man away,
So that the Holy Ghost may stay.

Hymn Text: I Must Share This Light

Title: I Must Share This Light
Meter: 11 10 11 10

1.
What good is a candle without a spark?
What good is a pen that won’t leave a mark?
What good is a treasure nobody sees?
What good are seeds that don’t turn into trees?

I know the Gospel’s true,
Now I must go and do.
It is not enough only to know it.

Though I know what is right,
Now I must share this light.
I must go into the world and show it.

2.
What good is a song that nobody shares?
What good is a witness that nobody bears?
What good is a tool that lies in the shed?
What good is dough you don’t bake into bread?

I know the Gospel’s true,
Now I must go and do.
It is not enough only to know it.

Though I know what is right,
Now I must share this light.
I must go into the world and show it.

3.
What good is a cart unhitched from its horse?
What good is a ship that won’t set a course?
What good is an arrow that won’t takes aim?
What good is the truth if you stay the same?

I know the Gospel’s true,
Now I must go and do.
It is not enough only to know it.

Though I know what is right,
Now I must share this light.
I must go into the world and show it.
