Hymn Text: A Mother’s Faith

Week of May 20th, 2018
Title: A Mother’s Faith
Meter: 8 8 8 8 D
Topic: Mothers

1.
Though mother Eve lost paradise,
To toil amidst a world of pain,
The grace of God would still suffice,
To succor her through sun and rain.

A mother’s faith can be the source,
Of miracles that change earth’s course.
She brought the world each daughter, son,
With Adam fell, our race begun.

2.
Though Sarah waited many years
To start her promised family line,
In later days, God calmed her fears,
And blessed her through His pow’r divine.

A mother’s faith can be the source,
Of miracles that change earth’s course.
She grasped the promise that is ours,
Descendants as the countless stars.

3.
Though Rebecca lived in heathen lands,
She knew her son must still be wed,
Unto a maid who understands,
That she must worship God instead.

A mother’s faith can be the source,
Of miracles that change earth’s course.
Her son found her whom God ordained,
And so a righteous branch obtained.

3.
Though Hannah could not bear a child,
She trusted in the Holy One.
Her fervent prayers rose and God smiled,
And He soon granted her a son.

A mother’s faith can be the source,
Of miracles that change earth’s course.
This son whom she did consecrate,
Became a mighty prophet great.

4.
Though Ruth had lost her husband soon,
And might have turned away and fled,
She granted to her kin a boon,
And stayed to help and bless instead.

A mother’s faith can be the source,
Of miracles that change earth’s course.
Her line was blessed by God to be,
The ancestors of royalty.

5.
Though Elisabeth did not know,
What her husband had heard and seen,
She felt her child leap and bestow
A sign of what his life would mean.

A mother’s faith can be the source,
Of miracles that change earth’s course.
Her son bore witness on that day,
That he would come prepare the way.

6.
Though Mary felt a surge of fear,
When first the angel to her spoke,
Her holy calling became clear,
And willingness in her awoke.

A mother’s faith can be the source,
Of miracles that change earth’s course.
She said to God, “Thy will be done.”
And bore His well-beloved Son.

Hymn Text: Our Mother Eve

Week of May 13th, 2018
Title: Our Mother Eve
Meter: 8 8 8 8 8 8
Topic: Mothers

1.
Our Mother Eve was first to see
That they must fall that man may be,
Then gave to Adam to partake,
Convinced him it was no mistake.

Take courage as our mother Eve,
When faced with fear, instead believe.

2.
Our mother Eve was first to hope,
That she, united, then could cope,
Outside their garden paradise,
That heaven’s gifts would then suffice,

Take courage as our mother Eve,
When faced with want, then still believe.

3.
Our mother Eve was first to weep,
For her stray child who did not keep,
All God’s commands, but turned away,
One son she lost, one went astray.

Take courage as our mother Eve,
When faced with grief, be still, believe.

4.
Our mother Eve was first on Earth,
God’s daughter of a royal birth,
First mother of the human race,
A vessel of God’s holy grace.

Take courage as our mother Eve,
All through your life, stand firm, believe.

Hymn Text: His Mother

Week of May 6th, 2018
Title: His Mother
Meter: 8 6 8 6 8 8
Topic: Mothers

1.
The Savior of the World came first,
Into His mother’s arms.
She tended to his hunger, thirst,
And kept Him safe from harm.

For though He was like no other,
Our Savior needed His mother.

2.
To bless His mother in her need,
To show He was divine,
Christ showed a miracle indeed,
And changed water to wine.

For though He was like no other,
Our Savior still served His mother.

3.
Then when upon the cross He hung,
She knelt there in despair.
Though thorns and nails His body stung,
He saw first to her care.

For though He was like no other,
Our Savior sheltered His mother.

4.
“Behold thy mother,” then He cried.
To her, “Behold thy son.”
For us, for her, he bled and died,
His life’s work, gladly done.

For though He was like no other,
Our Savior so loved His mother.

Hymn Text Save Us Still

Week of April 22nd, 2018
Title: Save Us Still
Meter: 8 8 8 8 8

1.
Sin’s prison cell would hold us fast,
If Jesus had not come at last
And snatched away the jailor’s key
To set each worthy captive free.

Hosanna, Lord! And save us still,
Who labor here to do Thy will.

2.
Death’s prison cell would hold us long,
Encircling with its chains so strong.
If Christ had never burst its bands,
And proved His love with wounded hands.

Hosanna, Lord! And save us still,
Who labor here to do Thy will.

3.
As captives, in the devil’s pow’r,
We all would languish ev’ry hour
If He’d not crushed the serpent’s head,
To save the living and the dead.

Hosanna, Lord! And save us still,
Who labor here to do Thy will.

Hymn Text: Let Me Think of Easter

Week of April 29th, 2018
Title: Let Me Think of Easter
Meter: 8 8 8 8 8 8

1.
Then let me think of Easter morn,
When I’m abandoned and forlorn,
Then when I feel that I have failed,
I’ll think of how my Lord prevailed.

For Easter gladdens with the thought,
Of all that the Atonement wrought.

2.
Then let me think on Easter’s dawn,
When solace seems from me withdrawn
Then when I weep into the night,
I’ll think upon His risen light.

For Easter gladdens with the thought,
Of all that the Atonement wrought.

3.
Then let me think on Easter’s day,
When friends and treasures pass away,
Then when I feel that I have naught,
I’ll think of what Christ’s blood has bought.

For Easter gladdens with the thought,
Of all that the Atonement wrought.

Hymn Text: Three Times

Week of April 29th, 2018
Title: Three Times
Meter: 8 6 8 6 D

1.
The natural man would have us say,
That “I know not the man.”
That “I will also go away.”
That “I have my own plan.”

And only through our bitter tears,
Can we at last be free,
To let our Savior calm our fears,
And ask, “Lovest thou me?”

2.
The natural man would have us act,
As though death were the end,
With pride and enmity react,
To trials God does send.

And only through our bitter tears,
Can we at last be free,
To let our Savior calm our fears,
And ask, “Lovest thou me?”

3.
The natural man would have us think,
But with the carnal mind.
Into the depths of hell we sink,
Into the chains that bind.

And only through our bitter tears,
Can we at last be free,
To let our Savior calm our fears,
And ask, “Lovest thou me?”
