Hymn Text: The Sun Shines Yet

Title: The Sun Shines Yet
Meter: 6 6 6 6 D

1.
In the darkest of days
In the bleakest of hours
When the storm gathers round
With the force of its powers

Then still the sun shines yet
Although I cannot see
And I must not forget
Its light and warmth on me.

2.
In the fiercest of pain,
In the depths of despair,
When I feel lost, alone,
With a burden to bear.

Then still the sun shines yet
Although I cannot see
And I must not forget
Its light and warmth on me.

3.
On the strongest of waves,
In the fiercest of seas,
When I can’t see the end,
And I fall to my knees.

Then still the sun shines yet
Although I cannot see
And I must not forget
Its light and warmth on me.

Hymn Text: His Mercy Endureth Forever

Title: His Mercy Endureth Forever
By Michael D. Young & Angie Killian
Meter: 8 8 8 8 D plus refrain

1.
Surrounded in the upper room
By dearest friends and sacred signs,
The Savior blessed and broke the bread
And passed to each the cup of wine.

The air hung heavy as they sat,
And while the dying sun grew dim,
With fervent hearts their voices joined
In offering a solemn hymn:

“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good:
For his mercy endureth forever.”

2.
Within the grove of gnarled trees
He fell upon His face and pled.
With scarlet sweat that stained the earth,
The Son partook the cup and bled.

Beneath the press of agony,
The world’s full weight of sin and grief,
Did solemn songs of reverence lend
A sip of solace and relief?

“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good:
For his mercy endureth forever.”

3.
Upon the callous cross of shame
Forsaken in His final hour,
The Savior did not stop His pain,
Although He surely had the pow’r.

As He fulfilled His final task
To ransom each beloved one,
Did songs of faith help Him to bear
His sacred duty as God’s Son?

“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good:
For his mercy endureth forever.”

4.
Each week before I take the bread
And water, honoring that night,
I have a chance to sing a hymn,
As He, to fill my soul with light.

Renewing sacred covenants,
Through Him who died to set me free,
May hymns of hope direct my thoughts,
Inviting Him to walk with me.

“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good:
For his mercy endureth forever.”

Hymn Text: Sacred Symbols

Title: Sacred Symbols
Meter: 8 8 8 8 D

1.
As night drew nigh, the Savior met
To wash His dear disciple’s feet,
Within a hallowed upper room,
To make His ministry complete.

And ate with them the holy feast,
To think of their deliverance then.
The promise He would soon fulfill
Would bring deliverance again.

2.
He ate with them the bitter herbs,
Immersed in water, as His tears,
And shared with them the Paschal lamb,
His symbol throughout many years.

Then shared the tokens of His love:
The crimson wine filled to the brim,
Unleavened bread in pieces torn,
And sang with them a hallowed hymn.

3.
The promise of the scarlet blood
Above their doorposts soon would be
Fulfilled by all that He would give,
To make all Israel pure and free.

The burden pressed His holy blood
As oil pressed from olives flows,
Within the grove of sacred trees,
The greatest act of love He chose.

2.
These sacred symbols help me think
Of what His sacrifice must mean.
Of what He offered in my stead,
To ransom and to make me clean.

O turn my bitter tears to sweet!
And make my broken pieces whole.
Anoint my head with holy oil,
And break the shackles of my soul!

Hymn Text: Christ Will Carry All My Pain

Title: Christ Will Carry All My Pain
Meter: 8 8 8 8 D

1.
The wrongs of others make a hole,
Growing deep inside my soul
Like giant stones, I carry grief,
Seeking only for relief.

But if I give each heavy stone,
To Him who suffered all alone,
Then Christ will carry all my pain
And fill the holes that still remain.

2.
My fear creates a tempest tossed
Threatens to make all hope lost.
In rolling waves and swirling tide
Keeping all my grief inside.

But if I clasp onto His hand,
The Savior’s strength will help me stand,
Then walking with Him on the waves,
I marvel how He stills and saves.

3.
Each time I fail a fearsome shade
Darkens ev’ry thought dismayed.
Like curling mist that fills the night
Blocking out all warmth and light.

But if I trust his perfect will,
I may progress, till all is still.
As Jesus’ quickens ev’ry breath,
And bursts the very bands of death.

Hymn Text: Thy Hand

Title: Thy Hand
Meter: 8 8 8 8 8 8

Thy hand did guide my early years
And though I could not see it yet,
It led the way and dried my tears,
In ways that I will not forget.

In my decisions, great and small,
Thy hand was there to guide them all.

2.
Thy hand did guide me as I grew
As gently I became aware.
Of all Thy ways, and surely knew,
Thy hand was guiding to prepare.

In my decisions, great and small,
Thy hand was there to guide them all.

3.
Thy hand does guide me still today,
And I can see more clearly now.
Thy hand does pave my mortal way
To lift me up and show me how.

In my decisions, great and small,
Thy hand is there to guide them all.

4.
O, may Thy hand forever guide,
My life, to build the way for me.
To see my days with grace supplied,
So I become all I can be.

In my decisions, great and small,
Provide Thy hand to guide them all.

Hymn Text: Father Sent Us to Succeed

Title: Father Sent Us to Succeed
Meter: 7 7 8 7

1.
We’re not sent to earth to fail.
Father sent us to succeed,
As through His Son, we may prevail,
Find in Him our ev’ry need.

2.
We’re not sent to merely fall.
Father sent us here to learn,
To grow and rise above it all
As we from our nature turn.

3.
We’re not sent to fade and die
Father sent us to ascend,
Filled with hope from Him on high
Reaching glory at the end.

4.
We’re not sent to stay a seed
But to stretch with branches high
Then showing fruit in word and deed
Grown, as Father, to the sky.

Hymn Text: The Light of Revelation

Title: The Light of the Revelation
Meter: 8 8 8 8

1.
Lord, grant me revelation’s light
To guide me daily in Thy way,
To lead me through this mortal night
Into a place of endless day.

2.
Lord, grant me revelation’s sight,
That nothing may deceive my eyes,
When seeking to reveal the right,
As darkened mists the way disguise.

3.
O, grant me revelation’s might,
When otherwise my heart would fail,
To keep the fire of faith still bright,
Assuring me I will prevail!
