Hymn Text: Was That All?

Title: Was That All?
Meter: 8 8 8 8 D
1.
Someday when I at last arrive
At home within my God’s embrace.
I’ll think on how I had to strive.
And how I came this far by grace.

Surrounded by all heaven’s light,
By angel choruses inspired.
I’ll ask, as I think on the night,
“O, was that all that was required?”

2.
Although my trials seemed so bleak,
My ev’ry burden far too great.
My sorrows fade as Jesus’ speaks,
And takes from me my mortal weight.

Encompassed then by endless bliss,
In mansions full of treasures pure,
In joy, I’ll wonder only this,
“O, was that all I must endure?”

3.
Until that time when I’m complete,
I’ll take my load with humble heart.
And pray His wounded hands and feet
Will help me bear my mortal part.

I know this life will pass away,
And everything will be made right.
With faith, I ask anew each day,
“O, help me Lord, to find Thy light.”

1 Nephi 9

1.
The works of God are true and wise
His purposes will ever stand.
His power flows in great supply
To fill the works that He has planned.

My faith glows bright, my fears are stilled
To see the will of God fulfilled.

2.
The words of God are just and true,
His firm decrees will never die.
His wisdom serves to see us through,
The trials that in our pathway lie.

My faith glows bright, my fears are stilled
To see the will of God fulfilled.

3.
The love of God is pure and vast,
His charity will ever flow,
His goodness through all lives will last,
The workings of His hand will show.

My faith glows bright, my fears are stilled
To see the will of God fulfilled.

Hymn Text: Now That I’ve Tasted

Title: Now That I’ve Tasted
Meter: 10 10 10 10 11 10

1 Nephi 8
1.
Now that I’ve tasted the fruit of the tree,
I peer through the mists for my family,
Beckoning urgently, “Come now and eat!”
The fruit of God’s love is so pure and sweet!”

Hold fast to the rod and press forward today,
With eyes on the prize of the narrow way.

2.
Now that I’ve tasted, I must give no heed,
To those in the building who mock indeed.
Laughing and pointing, they cry out in shame.
So some will forsake every step they came.

Hold fast to the rod and press forward today,
With eyes on the prize of the narrow way.

3.
Now that I’ve tasted, I raise my voice high,
To draw others forward and testify.
“The fruit is the sweetest of all on earth.
The gift is a treasure of infinite worth!”

Hold fast to the rod and press forward today,
With eyes on the prize of the narrow way.

Hymn Text: Deliver Me

Title: Deliver Me
Meter: 8 6 8 6 D

1 Nephi 7

1.
Deliver me! I stand in chains
My sins still hold me fast.
My robes are flecked with crimson stains,
Restore my soul at last!

For no one on this earth is bound
That cannot find release,
When power from on high is found,
To grant us freedom, peace.

2.
Deliver me! I stand in chains,
My fears still hold me bound.
My heart is wracked with mortal pains,
Encompass me around!

For no one on this earth is bound
That cannot find release,
When power from on high is found,
To grant us freedom, peace.

3.
Deliver me! I stand in chains
My weakness holds me tight.
My weary arm now shakes and strains,
Bestow Thy holy might.

For no one on this earth is bound
That cannot find release,
When power from on high is found,
To grant us freedom, peace.

Hymn Text: The Fullness of Mine Intent

1 Nephi 6

Title: The Fullness of Mine Intent
Meter: 8 8 8 8 8 8

1.
The scriptures speak to us today,
The words that prophets once engraved,
Inviting all to come to God,
And to His Son and to be saved.

This is the fullness of intent,
The reason that these words were sent.

2.
The prophets speak to us today,
Revealing God’s continued will,
The Spirit testifies the truth,
Its tender message, soft and still.

This is the fullness of intent,
The reason that these words were sent.

Hymn Text: God’s Word

Title: God’s Word
Meter: 7 6 7 6 8 8

1.
God’s word will never perish,
Nor fade away with time.
Its light is mine to cherish,
Its taste is sweet, sublime.

It makes my home a Promised Land:
The Bread of Life within my hand.

2.
God’s word will ever nourish,
My hungry heart and mind,
Until I grow and flourish,
My will and God’s combined.

It makes my home a Promised Land:
The Bread of Life within my hand.

3.
God’s word is laid before me
To her or to forsake
The Spirit will implore me
This offered gift to take.

It makes my home a Promised Land:
The Bread of Life within my hand.

Hymn Text: The Story of Alma the Younger

Title: The Story of Alma the Younger
Meter: 8 8 8 8 D

1.
The righteous Alma had a son,
Who did not share his holy life.
He was a proud and wicked one,
Who lived in constant sin and strife.

For many days, his father prayed,
His son would soon return, repent,
But still the younger Alma strayed,
Until an angel’s voice was sent.

2.
The angel shook him to his core,
So that he fell asleep for days.
In pain that grew so deep and sore,
He promised to amend his ways.

When he awoke, he testified,
That Christ had healed him deep within,
He traveled all about and tried,
To heal the hurt he caused by sin.
